About the TournamentProceeds to Support Helping Hands Foundation, Inc. & The Tomorrow Fund After 2 successful golf outings, we are excited to host our third annual tournament. During our daily activities, all of us become inspired by many organizations and individuals that cross our paths. Many of us participating in this upcoming tournament have had the wonderful opportunity to meet Trey Harrington – a young boy who was born with an upper limb difference. In October of 2004, Trey was born missing his right hand – to the surprise of his parents, family, friends and even doctors who defined the occurrence as a “vascular event – a failure of formation ” – giving no real reason “why”. Over the past 5 1/2 years, Trey has been an inspiration to many and is a confident, active, social young boy. He enjoys school and is encouraged to participate in a variety of sports & activities – without limitations. Every year, 1 out of 2,000 children in the United States is born with an upper limb anomaly. During childhood, many more lose hands and arms to accidents or disease. In an effort to learn more about Trey’s difference and to meet other children like him, his parents found support and comfort through a local group, Helping Hands Foundation, Inc. This organization has a continuous goal to provide support, share experiences and supply information to families having children with upper limb loss – whether it be congenital or acquired. A special bond often develops between parents, affected children and their siblings when families share experiences and ideas. Helping Hands Foundation chooses to focus on the child’s abilities, not their disabilities, while emphasizing the individual’s talents and strengths. This year, we are proud to support Helping Hands Foundation and the wonderful work it does for so many young families and their children (learn more at www.HelpingHandsGroup.org). |
